The study and vocational guidance training is aimed at you with a genuine interest in people and the ability to live yourself in the situation of others. You are trained to be able to support others to find career paths, to choose a profession or education. In your professional role, you have guidance conversations with individuals or in groups. You also have times when you inform or teach larger groups or inform parents, teachers or staff. As a study and vocational guidance counselor, you also often develop and organize the guidance activities at a school or in another business. The training consists of several parts. Among other things, a behavioral science and social science part, business-based education (vfu) and a part focusing on career theory and career guidance. There you develop knowledge and skills in communication, conversation and guidance. After the education, you can work in many different fields. The majority of students work in the school sector. In recent years, study and vocational guidance counselors have been employed in new areas where they work with guidance and guiding conversations in both the public and private sectors. Show less
