📖Program Curriculum
Project details The wellbeing of pupils and teachers is currently a significant educational policy priority within and beyond the UK. Increasingly, teachers are held responsible for the wellbeing of their pupils. Coupled with this, there is a heightened recognition that some children experience emotional difficulties, with greater responsibility placed on schools to help pupils develop ‘inner resources they can draw on as a buffer when negative or stressful things happen’ (DfE, 2016, p19). Similarly, research suggests many teachers report low levels of wellbeing due to work (Education Support, 2019).
Such findings have led policy makers to place an increased responsibility on schools to support the wellbeing of their teachers (Hinds, 2019, Ofsted, 2019). In light of this, the focus of this project is twofold, firstly it will look to explore the association between teacher and pupil wellbeing and secondly will go beyond this to better understand the role schools play in enhancing both.
