Malmö University offers further education at advanced level for those who have a vocational qualification for work as a preschool teacher, leisure educator, teacher or study and vocational guidance counselor. The courses are given at half-time and in the late afternoon or evening, so that you as a professional can study.
Three main areas
If you have a vocational qualification for work as a preschool teacher, leisure educator, teacher or study and vocational guidance counselor, you can study further education at advanced level. Then you get a master's or master's degree in one of the three main areas: pedagogy, subject didactics or special pedagogy. The choice of main field depends on which focus you have in your professional degree and how you want to use your degree.

The educations consist of independent courses that you need to apply for semester by semester. It is important that you apply for courses in the main area you want to study.
1. Pedagogy
Deals with the study of educational processes in different cultural and interpersonal contexts. The knowledge object of pedagogy is the formation of man through education, learning and teaching. In addition to formal educational contexts, the relationship between formal and informal learning and upbringing in different societal contexts is studied.

2. Subject didactics
Deals with the study of teaching, learning and knowledge in relation to different subject content based on didactic issues. The main area is characterized by a professional connection and closeness to the subject. Theoretical perspectives and content taken from pedagogy and other related disciplines are used to highlight and problematize didactic dilemmas and alternatives in relation to the content of various teaching subjects.

3. Special education
Is about the study of the interaction between the individual's conditions and the demands of the environment, with a particular focus on how difficulties can be prevented. Special education's subject of knowledge is teaching, socialization and learning for children, students and adults with various types of difficulties. Within the area, a number of theoretical perspectives are studied which make visible how obstacles to learning and development arise and can be remedied.

Reading and writing difficulties, special pedagogics and linguistics deepening, 15 credits (half speed)
Course in pedagogy for you with a professional degree
For those who have a professional degree of less than 180 credits, a bridging course is offered, which includes an independent work of 15 credits. Eligibility requirements are vocational degrees intended for teaching, alternatively courses in the main field of pedagogy of 60 credits.
Pedagogy with a focus on teaching, learning and pedagogical leadership, 30 credits (half-time)
Qualified tasks
A master's or master's degree gives you basic eligibility for postgraduate studies as well as a scientific basis for qualified tasks in, for example, preschools and schools. During the education, you develop your ability to analyze, make critical assessments and to use different research methods and to produce and evaluate scientific texts.
