To learn more about the program, please visit the Department's website: Masters in Teaching IN SHORT The course offer of this program does not allow full-time registration. It is therefore difficult for international students to obtain a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and a study permit for this type of program, which is only offered part-time. Our master's program in secondary education meets an important need for legally qualified teachers in Quebec schools. It is intended for candidates with and without a teaching employment relationship. The diploma gives access to a teaching certificate. It includes the following eight training profiles: French, mathematics, social universe, science and technology, ethics and religious cultures, English, Spanish and French as a second language. This program allows Quebec students to teach anywhere in Canada. Program Objectives The program focuses on the professionalization and development of the professional identity of teachers as well as a cultural approach to teaching. It aims to train competent teachers. More specifically, the Master of Education program: allows the development of the thirteen professional teaching competencies; integrates training in didactics, psychopedagogy, the foundations of education as well as training in the practice environment that promote the appropriation of a knowledge base common to the teaching profession, the enrichment of this knowledge and their updating; explicitly exploits the conscious establishment of close links between theoretical knowledge and experiential knowledge; takes into account the Quebec Education Program and encourages the enhancement of the capacity for critical reflection on the subjects and the teaching of the subjects; aims to develop a critical eye on the results of research as well as the ability to collaborate in research in the school environment; integrates various cultural elements in such a way as to respond, in a real context, to the cultural and social diversity of Quebec society.
