The master's programme runs for a duration of two years, leading to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. During each year, students can earn 60 credits (ECTS) and complete the programme by accumulating a total of 120 credits. Credits are earned by completing courses where each course is usually 7.5 credits.
The programme consists of compulsory courses, compulsory elective courses and elective courses.
Compulsory courses year 1
The first semester of the programme is compulsory. It will provide you with an overview and a common basis for further studies in specialised fields. From the second semester, you can choose to specialise in Structural engineering, Building technology or GeoStructures.
If you prefer a more general competence in building engineering and geotechnics, you can combine courses from different branches. In the final master’s project, you will independently carry out a qualified task with advanced problem solving and knowledge development. The following are the four compulsory courses during year 1.
Structural systems
Materials performance
FEM Basics
Building performance
Compulsory courses year 2
In the second year, the student completes a master’s thesis. Here, the student independently carries out a qualified task with advanced problem solving and knowledge development. The thesis may be worth 30 credits or 60 credits depending on your choice.
Master’s thesis
Compulsory elective courses
Through compulsory elective courses, you can then specialize in one of the profile tracks, or a combination thereof.
Elective courses
You can choose from a wide range of elective courses, including the following:
Finite element method – structures
Timber Engineering
Indoor climate and HVAC
Life cycle engineering
Deep foundations
Structural Concrete
Building physics, advanced course
Building acoustics
