The Master's specialisation in Data Science trains you to become a curious, creative, and competent data scientist. As an academic, we do not just expect you to understand and make use of the appropriate tools, but also to program and develop your own. You will follow core courses in machine learning, information retrieval, and probabilistic modeling, and can then delve deeper into different application areas such as natural language processing, medical pattern recognition, neuroimaging, business rules and/or bioinformatics. You’ll learn how to turn data into knowledge with the help of computers and how to translate that knowledge into solutions.

Study programme This specialisation is focused on research. You learn how to turn real-world data sets into tools and useful insights, with the help of software and algorithms. First, you study scientific literature in the Research Seminar. During your Research Internship, you participate in a research project in a company or a scientific group. In the Master's thesis, you carry out your own research project, under the close supervision of our expert staff. You can for example take part in the research of iCIS on topics like Machine learning, Information retrieval, Recommender systems or Privacy and law.
Curriculum of Data Science The Master’s specialisation in Data Science has a course load of 120 EC (two years). Apart from a few compulsory courses, you can compose most of the programme with electives.

The minimum age is 18.
English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.
Minimum education level: Bachelor's.
The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average
A, 70%, or a
high GPA.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application
fee and
upload
the application documents.
Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your
application within
2-3
days and proceed to the university or ask
you for further clarification
After it has been processed to the university you will receive
your unique
application ID from each university.
The university may contact you directly for further questions.
We will then follow up each week with the university for updates.
As soon as
there is any update we will let you know.
If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change
address at any
time
please let us know.
After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions
letter
electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable
deposit to the university.
Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the
admissions
letter and visa form to your home country.
