📚About the Program

The general objective of this program is to allow the acquisition of a working method adapted to the specificities of translation and to allow a reinforcement of knowledge, by proposing an approach which integrates linguistic and specialized knowledge, theoretical knowledge and technological tools. accessible to the translator. It also aims to make people think about translation as a process of intra and intercultural communication. Concentrations, profiles, pathways The cumulative master's program in translation is intended for students wishing to follow training in translation enabling them to obtain certification from the Order of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of Quebec (OTTIAQ). This online program combines the DESS in translation with three different paths whose courses meet OTTIAQ accreditation standards: Path 1 (Professional translation and initiation to research) of the combined master's degree in translation, entirely online, combines courses to deepen knowledge related to cultural communication and the translatological approach. The journey 2(Translation and cultural backgrounds) enables translators who are already members of the Order to acquire advanced skills in cultural communications. It is also intended for people working in cultural circles and wishing to deepen their knowledge in addition to receiving training in translation giving them access to the Order. Note that the three courses in this program are offered by real-time web conference. It should also be noted that students interested in this course should inquire with the Department concerned about the examination methods (online, face-to-face or remotely). The journey 3(Translation and thematic knowledge) consists of two courses belonging to the same field. This path therefore offers the possibility of acquiring, within the framework of cumulative mastery, thematic knowledge by taking online courses at UQTR, in another university or to promote knowledge already acquired in a field other than that of translation (see the terms and conditions in the Specific Academic Regulations) . This path is intended primarily for candidates who are interested in one of the following specialty areas: Arts and literature, environment; Right; Economics and Finance; Management and Administration; Computer science; Education; Policy; Biology and Health Sciences; Pure sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc.); Technology (engineering, transport, architecture, etc.); Sports; Tourism and recreation; Social science. Note: This cumulative master's program meets the accreditation standards of the Order of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of Quebec (OTTIAQ) and gives access to the title of certified translator.
