📖Introduction
Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) is Ireland's largest and most comprehensive higher education institution. Formed by the merger of three renowned institutes of technology, TU Dublin offers a wide range of programs in various disciplines including engineering, science, business, arts, humanities, and more. With a strong focus on innovation and industry collaboration, TU Dublin provides students with a vibrant and supportive learning environment. The university prides itself on delivering education that is practice-based, industry-relevant, and globally connected, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.
The TU412 Postgraduate Certificate in Building Performance (Energy Efficiency in Design) course has been designed to enable building design professionals to develop knowledge and skills that allow them to create high quality, energy efficiency designs of new and renovation building projects that comply with Ireland’s recently revised, very onerous Building Regulations. In so doing it also prepares students for the role of ‘Energy Efficiency Designer’ as provided for in the EU Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD).
Achieving the NZEB standard requires a culture change at all levels in the building industry, from procurement, to design, construction, use and maintenance of the building over its life cycle. This will require industry upskilling on an unprecedented scale across the EU.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Building Performance (Energy Efficiency in Design) programme is a 1-year part-time course, delivered over two semesters. The course combines online learning assessments with project work and explores a range of design tools required for NZEB design of residential and non-residential building types using a variety of digital modelling and environmental design software applications.
