Design is an important driver of economic growth, integral to both industry and society. EGFSN together for Design (2020) identified three major types of design as important for Ireland’s economic success: - Digital design;(Digital Media, Interaction Design, Web Design) - Product design; (Product Design Innovation, Process Design, Manufacturing Design) and - Strategic design; (Service Design, Design Thinking, Co-Design, Design Management, Design Innovation). The core design modules on this program are based on conducting research in a health care setting to produce a design guide. This forms the basis of the subsequent ideation process to create a breath of product and service system solutions. The design modules are complimented with modules in business, entrepreneurship and health promotion. MP6031 Establishing Business Ventures:
This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to establish and grow a new business venture. It explores key success factors and strategies involved in creating a business.

PD6001 Product Design Research:
Students will learn about different research approaches and how to integrate them into the design process. The module emphasizes the importance of research in creating innovative designs.

CA4003 Career Development:
This module focuses on enhancing job readiness and future employability skills. Students will receive training and guidance to develop their career prospects and prepare for the job market.

Spring Semester:

NM4092 Health and Health Promotion:
This module examines the concept of health and explores various determinants of health. Students will gain an appreciation of health-related issues and approaches to health promotion.

PD6012 Ideation and Representation:
The module covers fundamental design methodologies and techniques to transform ideas into product concepts. Students will learn how to generate and communicate innovative design ideas effectively.

IE2011 Industry Learning Project:
In this module, students will apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program in a real-life industry setting. It provides an opportunity to gain practical experience and understand the application of course content in a professional context.
