Fall Semester Subject Description Prerequisites/ Notes Theatre 1000 - Introduction to Theatre History I A historical survey of the art of the theatre. The history of theatre will be studied in terms of the evolution of performance and of the physical theatre from their origins in a variety of social rituals and contexts through to their present plurality of forms. At the same time, the nature and function of the various components of theatrical performance (acting, directing, design, etc.) will be analyzed in terms of period philosophical, social, cultural, political and religious contexts. These courses are open to non-theatre students. No prerequisite is required Theatre 1010 - Introduction to Acting An appreciation of the fundamentals of the craft of acting. Basic exercises in voice, movement, relaxation and concentration, improvisation and script analysis will introduce the student to the imaginative and physical skills required by an actor. This is a basic course for all theatre students regardless of their specific areas of interest. No prerequisite is required Theatre 1020 - Introduction to Technical Theatre Production An appreciation of the basic vocabulary and techniques of the various technical and organizational structures and practices of staging plays. Areas of concentration will include scenic and costume construction, basics in lighting, painting, props, sound and stage management. This is a basic course for all theatre students regardless of their specific areas of interest. No prerequisite is required Theatre 2010 - Acting II A second level course for Acting Majors. Emphasis on speech, text analysis and scene study. Various techniques and texts will be employed to root the student in the fundamental process of acting. A beginning approach to understanding the body as an instrument and the techniques required to use the instrument. Prerequisite: Theatre 1001, 1110 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 2020 - Technical Theatre Production II A second level course for the Technical Theatre Production Major. Emphasis on the fundamentals of drafting, stage management, model-making, props building, and painting. Prerequisite: Theatre 1001, 1120 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 2080 - Production Acting Either a semester's worth of work in one of the major productions, in a supporting capacity (i.e. a supporting role) or a significant role in a studio production. Prerequisite: Theatre 1110 Note: 4 credit hours 12 hours of studio per week Theatre 2090 - Production -Technical Theatre Either a semester's worth of work in a major production in a supporting capacity (i.e. assistant stage manager, wardrobe assistant, etc.) or in a studio production in a major capacity. Prerequisite: Theatre 1120 Note: 4 credit hours 12 hours of studio per week Theatre 3010 - Acting III An intermediate level course for the Acting Major. Continued emphasis on speech, voice production, text analysis, etc. Intermediate level scene study on material including non-realistic plays. Prerequisite: Theatre 2010, 2011, 2080,2081 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 3020 - Technical Theatre Production III An intermediate course for Technical Theatre Production Majors. Continued emphasis on carpentry, painting, lighting, sound, wardrobe, stage management, etc. Prerequisite: Theatre 2020, 2021, 2090, 2091 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 3060 - (Technical Theatre Production) Master Class I A semester's worth of work for Technical Theatre Production students with a guest artist in a particular area of specialization. Prerequisite: Theatre 2020, 2021 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 3070 - Master Class I (Acting) A semester's worth of work for acting students with a guest artist in a particular area of specialization. Prerequisite: Theatre 2010, 2011, 2080 Note: 6 hours of studio per week Theatre 3080 - Production-Acting Work on a major production in a significant capacity (i.e. a principal role). Prerequisite: Theatre 2010, 2011, 2080, 2081 Note: 4 credit hours 16 hours of studio per week Theatre 3090 - Production - Technical Theatre Work on a major production in a significant capacity (i.e. stage manager, crew chief, head of props, etc.). Prerequisite: Theatre 2020, 2021, 2090, 2091 Note: 4 credit hours 16 hours of studio per week Theatre 4010 - Acting IV An advanced course for acting majors. Concentration on advanced scene study on texts illustrating period styles or genres of plays. Prerequisite: Theatre 3010 and 3011, 3080 and 3081 Note: 6 hours of studio per week. Theatre 4020 - Technical Theatre Production IV Advanced course for Technical Theatre Production Majors with individual concentration on specific technical skills. Prerequisite: Theatre 3020 and 3021, 3090 and 3091 Note: 6 hours of studio per week. Theatre 4030 - Theory of Directing and Design An examination and analysis of the nature and practice of directing and design from a theoretical and aesthetical perspective. A lecture/seminar course involving script analysis to examine the interpretive and imagistic processes of directors and designers. Prerequisite: Theatre 3010 and 3011, Theatre 3020 and 3021, Visual Arts 2700/2701 and 15 credit hours in Dramatic Literature courses Theatre 4040 - Directed Studies Student projects in playmaking, performance, directing, design or technical presentations supervised by faculty. In consultation with the faculty, the student will submit a proposal for a project on which he/she wishes to work. These projects will be presented in public. Prerequisite: Theatre 3010 and 3011, Theatre 3020 and 3021 Note: 6 hours of studio per week. Theatre 4060 - (Technical Theatre Production) Master Class III Advanced work with a guest artist in a particular area of specialization. Minimum education level: High School.

The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average A, 70%, or a high GPA.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
