The training is on a five-year continuum. It includes the college component lasting three years which gives access to the DEC in nursing care 180.A0 and the university component lasting two years which gives access to a bachelor's degree in nursing sciences. Recognition of prior learning of eighteen credits (6 courses) from the college component makes it possible to complete the university component in five semesters (seventy-two credits). Program Objectives At the end of her five-year training (college component and university component), the student should have achieved the following objectives: acquire and deepen basic knowledge in nursing, biomedical and health sciences as well as in the human sciences to serve as a basis for “taking care” of the person, the family, and the community; pursue a personal approach in order to promote the development of self-learning skills and a better use of one's therapeutic resources in the partnership relationship to be developed with the person, the family, and the community; develop a critical mind that is part of a scientific approach for the analysis of increasingly complex nursing care situations as well as in the choice and application of intervention strategies; contribute in a particular way to the prevention of disease and to the promotion, maintenance and improvement of the health, well-being and quality of life of the person, the family and the community; acquire and deepen clinical skills in order to provide relevant and quality care, to participate in the advancement of nursing practice and the profession in different contexts; develop skills allowing him to participate in the management of care; acquire and develop attitudes and skills in order to assume leadership in interdisciplinary contexts; acquire training allowing them to focus on the links between research, theory and practice; develop an interest in research and allow access to higher education. Concerning more specifically the university component, the training will promote the student's acquisition of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in relation to specific aspects of her professional practice, as a baccalaureate nurse. During years four and five of the DEC-BAC, the student will be called upon to reinvest and enrich the skills acquired during the first years of her training at the college level.
