The Theatre Studies Major provides you with an overview of the theatre, its literature and history, and a solid grounding in production work. Through a combination of practical and theory courses, taught by leading academics as well as external professional practitioners, you will develop skills in acting, directing, playwriting, theatre production, and stage management. You will study seminal playwrights and directors to learn about the traditions and movements that have formed today’s theatre so you can build your own career in acting, theatre production and related industries. Furthermore, a year-round program of public performances will give you opportunities to apply the practices learned in class and to hone your skills. 📖Program Curriculum

The Theatre Studies Major requires the completion of 200 units of credit, as follows.

Fremantle students must complete the TWO following courses:

THTR1000 Theory and Practice of Acting I
THTR1050 Theory and Practice of Modern Theatre
And AT LEAST ONE of the following courses:

THTR2000 Theory and Practice of Acting II
COMMXXX Screen Performance
Plus ANY of the following courses, to make a total of 200 units of credit:

THTR2010 Theatre Crafts
THTR3050 Theatre for Social Change
THTR3060 Australian Theatre
THTR3090 Fundamentals of Directing
THTR3110 Text-based Production Workshop (50 units of credit)
THTR3120 Devised Production Workshop (50 units of credit)
THTR3410 Drama in the Age of Shakespeare
THTR3008 Theatre Studies Internship
WRIT3000 Writing for Performance
ARTS3002 Internship or Professional Project
ARTS3003 Creative Production
Where approved by the Dean, students may also include the following courses in their Theatre Studies Major:

Entry Requirements

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.

Minimum education level: High School.

The program is quite competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average B, 60%, or a high GPA.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
