📚About the Program

Our Environmental Biology and Technology (ENBT) program specializes in providing you with the knowledge and skills required to study Environmental Biology from many perspectives. You will receive the double-benefit of combining the academic education provided by Nipissing University with the practical and technical skills taught by our colleagues at Canadore College. All courses are completed within four years, and you will emerge with both a university degree and a college diploma. As well, there are a number of special certificates that ENBT students can earn. Graduates of the Environmental Biology and Technology program receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Nipissing and an Environmental Technician - Protection and Compliance diploma from Canadore College. 📖Program Curriculum

Students must complete BIOL 1006, BIOL 1007, ENSC 1006, and ENSC 1007 with a minimum grade of 60% in each.

** The 30 credits required in Year 2 are offered in collaboration with the Environmental Protection and Compliance Technician Diploma Program at Canadore College. Students require a minimum overall average of 60% in order to be eligible to proceed into their Canadore year. Students require a minimum GPA of 2.0 at Canadore in order to earn the 30 credits included in the Year 2 Canadore Block.

Students will need to achieve a minimum 70% average in the 60 credits presented for the Honours Specialization in Environmental Biology and Technology.

Students must complete 120 credits including 60 credits in the Honours Specialization, as follows:
BIOL 1006 Introduction to Molecular and Cell Biology
BIOL 1007 Introduction to Organismal and Evolutionary Biology
ENSC 1006 Introduction to Environmental Science Part 1
ENSC 1007 Introduction to Environmental Science Part 2
BIOL 2446 Principles of Ecology

BIOL 2336 Biology of Seedless Plants or
BIOL 2337 Biology of Seed Plants

BIOL 2836 Invertebrate Zoology or

Many courses in this program require the use of computers. Students with little or no computer background are therefore strongly encouraged to include an appropriate Computer Science course in their Electives in first year.

Students planning to apply to graduate studies are advised to include Physics or additional Mathematics and/or Computer Science courses among their 18 credits of Electives.

Students must be in the Honours Biology program or the Honours Environmental Biology and Technology program to enrol in the following courses: BIOL 4506, BIOL 4607, BIOL 4706, BIOL 4886, BIOL 4887, BIOL 4976, BIOL 4986, BIOL 4995, or BIOL 4997. Students pursuing a thesis must choose BIOL 4706 Literature Research and Seminar and BIOL 4995 Thesis.

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.

Minimum education level: High School.

The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average A, 70%, or a high GPA.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
